Strichco, “Karimi was best UAE foreign player”

PLDC - According to Strichco (Croatian head coach of Al Ahli), Ali Karimi has been named as the best foreign player of the 2001-2002 UAE League. This viewpoint was forwarded during an interview with Al Etihad newspaper of Abu Dhabi.

Strichco also commented that the presence of foreign players in the UAE clubs was to the advantage of the teams. He also added that the reason for Karimi being replaced in the second half of the recent AL Ahli – Al Kuwait match was the bad play by the opponents.

Ali Karimi’s left knee became seriously injured because of the repeated fouls by the Al Kuwait players which disabled him in the second half and forced him to leave the game. Karimi now needs to treatment and rest for one week.
