Pegah wins first leg of Iran’s League Cup final

MNA -  Pegah of Gilan has defeated Tehran-based Esteghlal 1-0 in the first leg of the Iran’s League Cup final here at the Sardar-e Jangal Stadium on Monday.
Akvestni Gilauri gave his plucky team a lead in the 40th minute with a free kick in front of 20,000 spectators.

Two teams had some opportunities after interval but neither could score.

Newly-appointed Esteghlal coach Amir Ghale-Noei has a difficult task in the second leg which is slated for June 16 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Esteghlal is the most successful team in the Iran’s League Cup with four titles.

Pegah has yet to win the title.
