Speed Hails Bolton Hero Teymourian

GOAL - It was not just Bolton Wanderers’ boss Sam Allardyce who was delighted with Andranik Teymourian’s second half brace against Wigan Athletic at the weekend, team-mate Gary Speed also paid tribute to the Iranian midfielder.

The 24 year-old hit two goals in three minutes to give Bolton a 3-1 win at Wigan’s JJB Stadium.

"His English is good enough to understand the mickey taking and he's a great lad - he fitted in straight away,” the veteran told the club’s website.

"Sometimes taking the mick is a sign of affection and he gets as much as anyone, especially over the last two weeks, definitely. Some went over his head. Then again, some players conveniently don't speak English at times, especially when the gaffer is rollicking them.

"It must be difficult to come from Iran and live in England. But his attitude in training and games has been first class.

"He works as hard as anyone and is probably the fittest in the club. He can get into the box and, when he did, he got two great goals.

"His English is good, so he's obviously working hard at that as well. He has come here geared for success and is doing everything within his power to get it. He wants to listen and learn and is trying to improve. He's a great lad."
