PLDC - While a few weeks ago, most fans believed Saipa will almost certainly win the 6th edition of Iranian Premier League, now and after the 22nd week of the league, the race is once again heated up. Saipa that was leading by 9 points at some poin in the season, now sees itself equal in points with Esteghlal of Tehran, if the blues manage to get a win against the relegation strugglers, Rah-Ahan on Friday. The Blues once again see themselves back in the race after 3 consecutive victories and now sit 3 points behind Saipa, and have a game on hand. With Saipa and Esteghlal both having a difficult schedule in their last 8 games however, teams such as Esteghlal Ahvaz, Perspolis and Sepahan will have something to say about a two-horse-race at the top. Currently Saipa leads the table with 45 points, and Esteghlal Tehran has gained 42 points while Esteghlal Ahvaz with 33, Abomoslem Mashhad, Perspolis, Sepahan and Paykan all with 32 points will fight it out all the way, even if they have a slight chance left for championship. For now it looks as if Saipa and Esteghlal will take this race into the last couple of week, but with the top teams having some tough games in the next few weeks, we could see the the rest of the pack join in an exciting last few weeks of the title race.
