MNA - Asia’s futsal king Iran Sunday fought
back to hold Thailand and now has a slight chance of booking a berth in the
semifinals of the 7th edition in Vietnam.
The six-time champion’s sad story started in the world event when it made an
embarrassing early exit and reached its climax as it conceded the first
Asian loss to Japan last Saturday.
Iran was lucky enough to come from 3-1 down and level the match against
Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City.
But the holder still needs a stroke of luck Tuesday when it takes on the
underdog China and Thailand arrays against Japan, which Sunday waltzed into
the semifinals with a 5-1 win over China.
Thailand, which beat the Chinese side in its first quarterfinal game, is one
draw away the last four.
Iran’s Futsal Committee head Sadeq Dorudgar offered his resignation right
after Iran’s humiliating tie with the Thais.
