Tehran Security Council Lauds Esteqlal, Sepahan Fans

MNA – Security Council of Tehran Governor General’s Office praised the fans watching the second-leg final match of the League Cup between Esteqlal and Sepahan in the 100,000-seater Azadi stadium, west of Tehran, on July 7.
Police were on alert Wednesday as the first leg in Naqsh-e Jahan stadium in Isfahan turned sour and the home team Sepahan won 3-2 amid bust-up and scuffle on and off the pitch.

Although some 90,000 fans watched the game, police faced no trouble and the match ended in a peaceful atmosphere.

The council also extended its appreciation to the organizing committee, police, and all football officials for their all-out cooperation in establishing security.
