Sardar Azmoun - Alireza Faghani

PLDC - In the continuation of pressure on critical athletes and artists, state-affiliated media reported that the Islamic Republic has seized the assets of Sardar Azmoun and Alireza Faghani—two prominent figures in Iranian football—as well as Mohsen Yeganeh.

According to reports published today, by government-linked outlets such as Tabnak and Hamshahri, all assets belonging to Azmoun were confiscated following his “recent positions” and alleged “cooperation with American and Israeli media.”

However, these reports did not provide any specific details regarding the nature of this alleged cooperation, the names of the media outlets involved, or how the national team player was connected to them.

The news outlet Asre-Iran also accused the United Arab Emirates of “openly supporting” U.S. military actions and “providing its territory” for operations against Iran. It claimed that Azmoun had expressed support for the UAE in an Instagram story.

Previously, Azmoun had shared an image of his meeting with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai.

Following these developments, media outlets affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps strongly criticized Azmoun, and his name was reportedly removed from Iran’s national football team list.
