PLDC - Iran opened their campaign at the Al Ain International Cup with a 5–4 victory over Cape Verde in a penalty shootout on Thursday night.
The match, held at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, ended 0–0 in regular time before Iran secured the win from the spot.
With this result, Iran will face the winner of Egypt vs. Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
The tournament serves as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing together four participating nations — Egypt, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Cape Verde — in Al Ain from November 13 to 18.
