Manama – BAHRAIN will play hosts to Iran, Iraq and Egypt in December
during the Bahrain International Tournament as part of their preparations
for the upcoming Gulf Cup.
The tournament, which will be held between December 12 and 18, will be played in a round robin format, with the opening match being played between Iran and Egypt at the Bahrain International Stadium. The 2003 edition will be the third of its kind and will be perfect preparations for Bahrain ahead of their participation in the 16th edition of the Gulf Cup. According to sources coming from the Middle East, Bahrain national coach Srecko Juricic has called 19 players for the squad. Iran and Iraq, the two fierce rivals will also use the tournament to fine-tune their act for next year’s Asian Cup Finals, the duo having both qualified for the Asian bonanza after the recent qualifiers.
