AFC - It was reported on Gulf News that 1995 World Player of the Year George Weah, currently on the end of his two-year contract with Al Jazira, may move to Al Ahli on loan for the rest of the season. Al Jazira were recently knocked out of the President's Cup and Al Ahli are anxious to bring in Weah to replace star player Jawad Kazimian. Kazimian is currently attached with the Iranian national side in preparations for the Olympic qualifiers, with Al Ahli aiming to soften the blow by getting a player of Weah’s quality for the rest of UAE’s most prestigious knockout tournament. Al Wahda forward Mohammed Salim Al Enazy is also high on Al Ahli’s wish list, the Qatari international having impressed in recent seasons by topping the goal-scoring charts over the last two years. Like Weah, Al Enazy will also be a free agent by June and Al Ahli are very interested in taking a closer look at both players before the start of next season. |
