PFDC - Former Bayern Munich Iranian midfielder Ali Karimi made his debut for his new club, Al-Siliya in a friendly match against the German Bundesliga 2 side, FC Nürnberg.

The Iranian who is currently in Germany with his new club for pre-season preparation, played the first half of the friendly against Nürnberg which ended with the score of 4-0 for the Germans.

Al-Sailiya coach, Jose Paulo used two different formations in each half of the match. The Club from Qatar is set to play another friendly against a second division German team on 4th of August.

The 2004 Asian Player of the Year, was thrown off the Iran national team earlier this year after making critical remarks on the Iranian Football Federation. Subsequently there were reports that he had been reinstated to the team but the 29 year old is yet to be invited to Iran’s national team for the 2010 World Cup qualifications.

Ali Karimi has recently signed a two-year contract with Al Sailiya football club of Qatar which is worth 4.7 million euros.
