GHP - The U-23 national football team's 4-2 defeat in Tehran, on Thursday, may turn out to be a very expensive financial adventure for the Ghana Football Association(GFA).
The Iran Football Federation (IFF) is refusing to pay the $300,000 promised the GFA due to a breach of contract.

Furthermore, the Iranians are planning to ask for compensation from Ghana, through FIFA, for the violation.

According to the contract, Ghana was supposed to field at least eight of her senior team players in the match.

However, GFA (in all its wisdom) sent a watered-down version of the U-23 side, i.e. the Olympic team. Only two fringe members of the senior national team - Bernard Yao Kumordzi & Kweku Essien - made the trip.

Ghana got the opportuinity to play in Tehran because Nigeria pulled out of the game. The Nigerians could not meet the condition which is now casing "wahala" for Ghana.

Iran was expecting to use the game against Ghana as part of her preparations for next months Asian Cup Tournament to be jointly hosted in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
