TEHRANTIMES - The Esteghlal football team beat Foolad 1-0 in its away game and won the Iranian Professional League on Sunday.

Javad Nekounam scored Esteghlal’s only goal from the penalty kick in the 19th minute.

Foolad midfielder Mehdi Noori missed a penalty kick 11 minutes later.

Esteghlal has won the IPL trophy for the third time in 12 years.

Elsewhere, Aluminum lost 2-1 against Tractorsazi in its home game, Zob Ahan pummeled relegated Sanat Naft 6-0, Mes trashed relegated Gahar 5-1 Paykan lost to Fajr Sepasi 2-1, Saipal was defeated by Naft 1-0 and Rah Ahan was held to a 1-1 draw by Saba.
