PLDC - The new Head of the Iranian Football Federation and National Youth team
supervisor, Mohammad Dadkan, expressed that Iran came to the 14th Asian games with the intention of gaining victory in an interview by the
International radio of China. He said that Iran had been the champions of the 2001 Bangkok games and they would also try to become the champions
in the 2002 Busan games and defend their title of last year.
He emphasized that Iran had to reach its rightful place in the games. He also added that the National Youth football team had come to Busan
with three players of above 23 years of age and named the players as Ali
Daei, Yahya Golmohammadi and Ebrahim Mirzapour. Dadkan expressed that the National Team was in good spirits but they had to do better than
they had done so far.
According to the head of the IFF, the National Team is now composed of the best local club players who are chosen by their clubs and are then
introduced to the National team. Dadkan ended by saying that among the three opponents of Iran in group five, Qatar was the most dangerous and
Iran had to win all three games to qualify to the next leg of the Asian Cup.
