Damascus, July 24, IRNA -- Iran was knocked out in the preliminary round of Asian Youth Soccer Championships.
The host team, Syria, defeated the national squad of Iran 3-1 Tuesday.
Collecting 7 points out of three matches (two wins and one tie),  the Syrian side rolled in to the finals of 23rd Asian event which will  be held in Doha, Qatar, in late September.
Syria scored in the 40th, 85th and 92nd minutes and the sole goal of Iran came in the 43rd minute by Khosro Heidari. Iran needed a victory to book a berth in the Asian finals.
Earlier, Yemen and Oman fought to a 1-1 draw.
In its first fight, Iran beat Yemen 4-3 and lost to Oman 2-1 in the second match.
The two sides fielded on the pitch of 30,000-seater stadium of Aleppo, 350 km off northern Damascus.
