Shiraz, June 17, IRNA -- Visitor Esteqlal of Tehran took a grip on Iranian league trophy as it beat Fajr-e Sepassi in the first leg in Shiraz Sunday.
Clashing on the pitch of Hafezieh Stadium, Esteqlal won the match 2-1.
In the 34th minute, Yadollah Akbari put Esteqlal ahead by heading home a well-flighted cross from Faraz Fatemi.
Fajr leveled the derby as Mehrzad Ma'danchi's free-kick found the blues' net in the 54th minute.
Esteqlal came close to the second goal as Akbari missed a penalty in the 61st minute but national midfielder Sirous Dinmohammadi scored a late goal to grab three points out of home.
Receiving a perfect pass in the box from his teammate Ali Mousavi, Dinmohammadi slotted home two minutes from the normal time.
The second leg is held at 05:30 pm on Thursday, June 20, in the Takhti Stadium, southeastern Tehran.
