Naft Tehran

PLDC – Naft Tehran football team was relegated to Iran’s first division on Sunday.

The Tehran-based team lost to Pars Jonoubi 3-0 in the penultimate game of Iran Professional League (IPL) season.

Naft Tehran joined Siahjamegan who was earlier relegated from IPL.

Naft Tehran was founded in 1950 and finished in IPL third place twice in 2013–14, 2014–15 and won Iran’s Hazfi Cup last season.

Naft Tehran won promotion to IPL in 2009-10 season.

The team had so many financial problems in this season.

Naft Tehran started the IPL current season with Hamid Derakhshan but parted company with ex-Persepolis coach and appointed Ali Karimi as its new head coach and also parted ways with the former Bayern Munich midfielder.

Naft appointed Human Afazeli as head coach in January but former Iran Olympic coach failed to avoid relegation.
