AFC - The Islamic Republic of Iran’s U-19 women’s national team ended the Russia-based Kuban Spring tournament with a flourish, defeating Romania 2-1.
Goals by Fatima Shaban and Player of the Match Hajar Dabbaghi proved crucial for the Central Asians, who finished third in the four-team tournament.
The win was a welcome result for the Iranians, who had previously suffered a 2-0 defeat to eventual champions Russia and a 3-0 loss to runners-up DPR Korea.
Iran will look to return to the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship for the first time since 2015 when they participate in the qualifying stage of the 2019 edition of the tournament later this year.
