Ashkan Dejagah - Nottingham Forest

NottinghamPost - Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for former Fulham winger Ashkan Dejagah.

The 31-year-old Iranian international is a free agent after leaving Wolfsburg at the end of last season

He endured an injury-hit second spell at the Bundesliga side, featuring just twice before being released at the end of the campaign.

However, with the World Cup on the horizon, Dejagah is in need of regular football to prove his fitness.

He has previously been linked with a return to his homeland with Esteghlal, Tractor Sazi, and Zob Ahan reportedly keen to sign him.

A move to the Qatar league was also mooted, but Dejagah wants to play in Europe after a three-year stint in the Middle East before going back to Wolfsburg a year ago.

“I’ve played in Al Arabi for three years but at the moment I’d rather play in a European team,” Dejagah said.

“The 2018 World Cup is a great goal for me and I want to make sure I am fully prepared for the competition.”

The Daily Mail say Forest could be ready to give him a route back to English football after he played for Fulham between 2012 and 2014.
