Alireza Jahanbakhsh - Heracles

Sky Sports - AZ Alkmaar thrashed Heracles Almelo 5-0 to close up on Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven.

With PSV set to travel to Ajax on Sunday for De Klassieker, John van den Brom's men took full advantage to move within five points of the summit after a seventh straight league win.

An own goal from Heracles goalkeeper Bram Castro broke the deadlock on 55 minutes when he deflected a cross into the net.

AZ Alkmaar doubled their lead with 15 minutes left through midfielder Guus Til.

Iran midfielder Alireza Jahanbakhsh clipped home a third on 81 minutes, before Wout Weghorst netted on the break and Jonas Svensson knocked in a fifth during stoppage time.

Zwolle are fourth, level on points with Ajax, after a 2-1 win at Excelsior, who finished with 10 men.

Excelsior led through a penalty from Mike van Duinen on 48 minutes, only for Mustafa Saymak to equalise straight away.

Zwolle midfielder Younes Namli curled in a 20-yard free-kick on 65 minutes, before Excelsior forward Stanley Elbers was sent off late on for a second caution.

At the other end of the table, relegation battlers Twente went down 3-2 against Den Haag after a dramatic stoppage-time winner from Nasser El Khayati.

Danny Holla put the hosts in front on 12 minutes, but El Khayati equalised just five minutes later.

Bjorn Johnsen then volleyed Den Haag ahead in the 21st minute, only for midfielder Holla to level things up again with a deflected free-kick 10 minutes before half-time.

Just when Twente thought they had done enough for a point, El Khayati punished some wayward defending to snatch victory.

VVV Venlo substitute Ralf Seuntjens hit a late goal to earn a 2-2 draw at Heerenveen.

Lennart Thy had given the visitors the lead on 10 minutes, but Heerenveen soon equalised through Denzel Dumfries' looping header.

Henk Veerman then put the hosts ahead early in the second half, but, with just five minutes left, Seuntjens diverted the ball past the keeper to secure a point.
