IRNA - Iranian international striker Vahid Hashemian remains unsure about extending his contract with German Bundesliga team Vfl Bochum, citing his growing discontent over his minor substitute role this season, the bi-weekly Kicker sports magazine reported Thursday.
"I want to play more and I have to think about whether I can do so in Bochum in the long-term," said the 26-year-old Hashemian, whose two-year contract runs out this summer.
According to the report, contract negotiations between Bochum manager Heinz Knuewe and Hashemian have already started.
The ex-Hamburg player, nicknamed 'helicopter' for his jumping abilities, is expected to decide by the end of this month. Although Hashemian has so far scored four goals in 19 games, he has been clearly overshadowed by Bochum's top Danish striker Thomas hristiansen who is ranked second in the Bundesliga scorer standings with 12 goals.
A sure bet for relegation, Bochum has so far surprised football experts this season, ranking 8th in the Bundesliga standings with 26 points out of 19 matches.
