AFC- Iran thrashed
Asian futsal runners-up Uzbekistan 7-0 in the Tehran Friendly Futsal
Tournament on Saturday.
A day after losing narrowly 2-1 to Russia, Vahid Shamsaee and Babak Masoomi
were in scintillating form and scored a brace each while Javad
Asgharimoghadam, Mohammad Hashemzade and Mohammad Taheri were on the mark
once.
In another match, the Iranian B team held Russia 2-2 after a similar
scoreline draw in the first match against Uzbekistan.
Iran coach Hossein Shams said: “Our players were quite better than Asian
runners-up Uzbekistan in this game. We hope to win the AFC Futsal
Championship for the eighth time in Japan this year.”
According to the competition format, the teams played only two matches and
Russia do not meet Uzbekistan while the Iranian teams do not play each
other.
Iran finished third in Uzbekistan in the previous edition of the AFC Futsal
Championship after seven championship wins in a row.
